February News Update

February has passed in the blink of an eye but so much has happened at Elgar Shirts. This month we’ve debuted new garments, had beautiful new photos taken of our clothes and kickstarted a year of events.

We were thrilled to work with photographer Alex De Palma again and he’s taken some wonderful photos of our new garments and of our workshop. Thanks also to our friends at Bishops’ House Sheffield who provided us with a stunning historic backdrop for our photoshoot.

We’ll be giving the website a lick of paint soon and will reveal more of these photos as we update the images in our online shop.

New and Refreshed Garments

We’ve had a lot of enthusiasm for customers for our 1920s style shirts and we’re pleased to show you a new shirt, in a lilac grey. This is a versatile everyday shirt but you could pair it with other accessories, like braces or a detachable collar, if you like a vintage look.

We’ve also updated some of our existing waistcoat styles. You can see new images in our shop to reflect changes we’ve made. Our double-breasted 18th century waistcoat now comes in a longer length and a new peacock feather lining.

Other new garments – including trousers – coming soon!

Last Chance to Buy

Unfortunately there are times when cloth we love is discontinued and we can no longer make certain garments. Our popular 18th century damask shirt – also known as the pirate, Poldark or poet shirt – is coming to an end. However fans of this style of shirt need not worry. We’re continuing to make similar 18th century shirts in the future.

Although if you want to purchase this shirt in the beautiful damask cloth before stock runs out then don’t delay!

Events

This month we attended the Whitby Steampunk Weekend and the Cambridge Living History Market at a new venue in St Ives. Both events had a fun atmosphere and we were pleased to see familiar faces returning for another look at our clothes.

March sees our return to TORM where we will be showcasing shirts and waistcoats, including styles not yet seen on our website. We’re looking forward to TORM’s bustling market and if you’re coming along you’ll get a first look at our latest garments. We hope to see you there!
