Calico fall front trousers

We have acquired two more bundles of this vintage un-dyed cotton calico so am selling these 18th century fall-front, back-laced trousers again – great for pirates, performers and anyone who wants something more basic, rough and rustic.

Each leg of these trousers is cut in one piece so no inside leg seam. This makes them very comfortable for activities fencing, dancing and climbing the rigging.

Our supplier says the calico was dried on the banks of the river Ganges probably in the 1960s or 1970s.
It is a rough and crude fabric but the weave is tight so the quality is good – better than modern stuff. Softens upon washing. We have pre-washed the calico to ensure no shrinking.
As the calico is a natural undyed fabric it should dye very well.

The tie at the back waist allows 3-4″ of adjustability:
– XS fits 28″ to 31″ waist
– Small fits 31″ to 34″ waist
– Medium fits 34″ to 37″ waist
– Large fits 37″ to 40″ waist
– XL fits 41″to 44″ waist

– 2 wooden buttons to hold up the fall front and 2 more to secure the waistband at the front
– ties at back waistband with a cotton tape that can be loosened to allow for a larger waist size
– when the back tie is loosened the gap is covered by a gusset of the same calico
– 2 pleats either side at centre back
